The Trustees of Hargreaves Foundation are pleased to confirm funding for the Rowdown Inspire to Aspire Foundation, which will enable several successful Tuition Programme graduates, to be given grants to support them attend secondary school.
Based in New Addington, the charity offers three support methods to combat the levels of social deprivation faced by those living in Croydon. Offerings of individual private tutoring lessons; masterclass group sessions in art, sport, drama, or dance; and a tuition programme supporting children pass their 11+ exams, have collectively supported over 140 children.
With the ever-increasing need for support from families in the Croydon area, the Rowdown Inspire to Aspire Foundation are seeking funding to help deliver grants to 40-50 families. As grants can only be offered on an annual basis, the charity requires visibility on the level of funding available before the start of the academic year. This funding from the Hargreaves Foundation will ensure the charity can promise to support to these families.
These grants enable families to afford school uniforms, lunchtime meals, extracurricular activities, and other residual fees, all which impact whether a child accepts an offered place from a school to pursue their talent in art, drama, dance, music, or sport.
One of the beneficiaries said, ‘I want to appreciate all the help you have done for us… [it] is genuinely a good school and my daughter is enjoying it there and…mainly to say we wouldn’t have went to that school if you haven’t encourage us to do so’.
