The Hargreaves Foundation proudly support Give It Your Max (GIYM), a charitable organisation founded to honour Max Stotesbury’s legacy and uplift disadvantaged children through tennis programs. Established in 2005 after Max’s tragic passing, GIYM focuses on nurturing the confidence and physical abilities of young people with disabilities (YPWD) in the UK.
Targeting state schools with a pupil premium percentage of 35% or above, GIYM extends its reach to special educational needs (SEN) schools, delivering free tennis sessions to pupils aged 4-18 in the most deprived areas of the UK. The foundation’s funding will enable GIYM to conduct weekly tennis sessions at two SEN primary schools in Northampton, benefiting 50 YPWD annually.
GIYM’s professional tennis coaches, experienced in specialised disability tennis sessions, tailor each program to accommodate various abilities, ensuring inclusivity. The initiative not only enhances physical and mental well-being but also addresses socio-cultural issues like obesity, anti-social behaviour, and low aspiration levels. By providing specialist coaches and adapting programs based on extensive feedback, GIYM aims to empower YPWD, particularly those facing daily challenged and limited access to physical activities.
