The Hargreaves Foundation supports Potential kids

September 2024

The Trustees of The Hargreaves Foundation are delighted to support award-winning charity Potential Kids (PK), awarding them with funding to host monthly Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) basketball sessions.

Working with neurodivergent children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), PK run over 20 activities a month for over 500 beneficiaries - activities range from trampolining to STEAM home education.

Recognising that many SEND young people become isolated and marginalised due to the inability to access social, sport, and educational settings, PK will use funding from The Hargreaves Foundation to host monthly SEND basketball sessions for those aged 8-18-years-old. Taught by a SEND basketball instructor, sessions aim to promote self-esteem, provide a sense of belonging, and improve physical health through accessible drills and games that help coordination, communication, fitness, and psychological development.

Being told by families that PK is “more than just a charity”, with their work commended through achievement of the King’s Award in 2023, PK have a strong track record for delivering accessible projects that enhance the lives of many.
