The Trustees of the Hargreaves Foundation are proud to announce funding has been awarded to NICE. This will fund top-up bursaries for children with movement disorders attending their Red Boots Special School. These bursaries will help cover the additional therapy costs required to ensure these children receive a comprehensive and tailored education.
Red Boots Special School, rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, uses Conductive Education to integrate therapy and education, addressing the complex needs of children with cerebral palsy and other movement disorders. The school provides a unique curriculum that combines the National Curriculum with the Conductive Curriculum, emphasising the importance of movement skills in learning and daily life.
The fundingg will support two children for the entirety of their primary education, bridging the gap between local authority funding and the actual cost of delivering the specialised services. This support is crucial as local authority funding often does not cover the full cost of the bespoke education these children require.
