The Trustees of the Hargreaves Foundation are pleased to announce funding will be granted for the Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC). The funding is helping a dedicated para table tennis program at their new community club in Moulsecoomb, set to open in December 2024. The funding will cover the salary of a professional coach, to work alongside Paraolympian Will Bayley, focusing on engaging and developing young para table tennis players aged 18 and under.
BTTC, known for its inclusive approach and status as a Sports Club of Sanctuary, aims to extend its reach to children and young people with physical and learning disabilities in Brighton and Hove. The new Moulsecoomb venue, designed with accessibility in mind, will serve as a hub for para table tennis, providing opportunities for players of all abilities to learn, compete, and connect.
The program aims to build on the momentum generated by BTTC members’ success at the 2024 Paralympics, inspiring more young people with disabilities to participate in table tennis. The funding will enable the club to provide specialised coaching, one-on-one support, and outreach to local schools, increasing the participation and fostering a sense of community. BTTC’s goal is to see 100 children and young people with disabilities participating in table tennis, unlocking numerous health, social, and competitive opportunities.
