The Trustees of The Hargreaves Foundation are pleased to announce that funding has been awarded to The Ups of Downs, a small charity run by volunteers from families who have children with Down Syndrome.
Since their establishment in 2006, The Ups of Downs has been celebrating Down Syndrome in Warwickshire and surrounding counties, working with more than 60 families. With a vision to create a world where people with down syndrome live their lives to the max as fully included valued members of society, the charity finds bespoke classes and activities for their members and provides sporting or educational activities that foster life skills.
Funding from The Hargreaves Foundation will enable the delivery of weekly sporting activities such as dance, gymnastics, karate, obstacle courses, PE, and football for around 40 children, ranging from preschool to youth club (years 4-16). Participation will help their sporting development and include benefits such as reduced stress, improved mood, increased confidence and greater social skills.
